Life Beyond Crohn's: Thriving, Not Just Surviving.
Empowering teens with Crohn's disease to live full, vibrant lives through awareness, understanding, and unwavering support.
ABOUT ME
About
I am Aarav Mehta, a dedicated and empathetic high school student driven by a passion for empowering others.
I excel in roles such as a soccer coach for LEGARZA and a math tutor for YAPA Kids Math, where I foster confidence, enhance skills, and create supportive learning environments. My experience as a Java tutor and a teacher's assistant further showcases my commitment to education and my ability to connect with and guide students. Balancing a rigorous academic schedule with diverse extracurriculars, my personal journey has inspired me to advocate for greater understanding and support for teens facing similar challenges.
I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease as a teenager. This diagnosis significantly impacted my life—from how I ate and socialized to how I felt about myself. What I quickly realized was that most people, including my friends and teachers, had very little understanding of what living with Crohn's truly meant.
Together, we can change lives by fostering early awareness, improving diagnosis, and ensuring better care and support for every teen navigating this journey.

MY RESEARCH
My research is on "Using Gut Microbiome Profiles to Predict Treatment Response in Crohn’s Disease".
Beyond personal advocacy, I am deeply committed to contributing to the scientific understanding of Crohn's disease.
The goal of this research is to identify specific microbial patterns that can act as biomarkers, helping doctors predict which treatments will be most effective for a given patient. This could lead to more targeted therapies, reduce trial-and-error in treatment plans, and ultimately improve the quality of life for individuals living with Crohn's.
